Chris Daw

Chris Daw

Chair (*Officer)
Chris Daw has been working in immigration consulting since 2001. He was one of the authors of the bid to create a new regulatory body, and one of the founding directors of ICCRC in 2011. Chris has served on the ICCRC Board for four years which include time as Vice-Chair and now Chair. He has a Bachelor of Arts in International and Development Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University and is also active in his home town of Waterloo, Ontario where he has participated in City Council Committee work, and as a member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce. Chris is a member the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants and the Privacy and Access Council of Canada.

Joan Page

Vice-Chair (*Officer)
Joan Page (Verwoord) became an Immigration Consultant in 2010 following a 25-year progressive career with the Government of British Columbia, in Victoria specializing in social policy and programs. She is a sole practitioner living in Richmond, British Columbia. She holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Victoria and a Certificate in Canadian Immigration Law, Policies and Practices from the University of British Columbia. Joan has served on the ICCRC Board for three years. She is the Vice-Chair, having also been Vice-Chair in 2016. Joan has been active in ICCRC committee work, currently as the Chair, Human Resources and Compensation Committee (HRCC) and previously Vice-Chair of the Governance & Nominating Committee and the HRCC as well as member of the Policy and Liaison Committee. In 2013, the City of Richmond appointed Joan to its Inter Cultural Advisory Committee (RIAC), recently re-appointing her for a third consecutive two-year term. In 2018, she completed a term as elected Chair. Previously, she served as Director of Education, BC Chapter of the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants.
Nancy Awwad

Nancy Awwad, joined the Board of Directors in June 2017, was the Vice-Chair of the Practical Experience Task Force in 2017 and at the moment is the Vice-Chair of the Public Policy and Liaison Committee. Nancy’s professional experience includes being an adjunct instructor, a Canadian tax consultant, a Life Licensed Qualified Professional and an experienced management professional. She is the Senior Consultant at Awwad & Associates International Immigration Services Inc. headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario. Nancy is involved in her community and started as a member, student, and mentor of Ottawa’s leading settlement agencies such as Lassi World Skills, Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization (OCISO) and the Ottawa Chinese Community Service Center in Ottawa (OCCSC) – In-Tac. She was an elected board member at the Lycee Claudel Students’ Parents Association in 2011 and 2012, and the chair of the Outreach and Events Committee.

Nancy graduated the Immigration Consultant Diploma with Honors in March 2014 from Herzing College – Ottawa after completing her practicum experience at the Canadian Bureau for International Education, at the Membership, Public Policy, Communication and Marketing Department. Nancy is fully bilingual and speaks Arabic.
Stanislav Belevici

Stanislav Belevici LL.L., LL.M., J.D., is a professional immigration consultant with a background in international relations and immigration law for over 15 years. Stanislav received his first law degree in 1998 from the Law Faculty of the State University of Moldova and worked for the European Commission’s TACIS program to Moldova and for the Legal Department of Ernst & Young Southeast Europe. After immigrating to Canada in 2002, he completed a Master’s Program in Comparative Law with McGill University and between 2005 and 2007 he worked as a Lecturer of Canadian Business Law and Canadian Import and Export Regulations at the International Academy of Design and Technology in Montreal. In 2014, Stanislav obtained his Juris Doctor Degree in Common Law and Transnational Law from Sherbrooke University in Quebec.

In his practice, he counsels corporate clients on development of immigration policies and processes, as well as on workforce mobility solutions and mitigation of risks related to immigration compliance requirements. Stanislav also represents clients before the Immigration and Refugee Board on deportation orders, extradition requests and spousal appeals.
Randy Boldt

Director
Randy Boldt was elected as a Director in November 2017. He has been an Immigration Consultant for 10 years. Prior to being an immigration consultant, he managed two provincial immigration programs. Before entering immigration, Randy was a commercial banker, both in Canada and the United Kingdom. He has a degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Manitoba and an MBA from the Cass Business School (University of London, UK).
John A. Burke

John A. Burke

Director
John is a graduate of York University in Toronto, Ontario and a Full Member of ICCRC. Prior to starting his own Immigration Consulting practice in 1996, John spent 29 years with the federal public service where he was instrumental in the development of Foreign Worker Policy, Procedures and Operational Guidelines at both the Ontario Regional and National headquarters levels. As well, he worked directly with senior Japanese and Canadian corporate executives in the successful establishment of the Honda, Toyota and CAMI (GM/Suzuki joint venture) automobile manufacturing plants in Ontario.

Since leaving the Public Service in 1996, John has acted as a Senior Immigration Advisor to several prominent Immigration law firms in Toronto in addition to operating his own Immigration Consulting practice. He is regularly called upon to provide advice and guidance to fellow Immigration Practitioners; to make presentations to various groups; and, to conduct seminars in his areas of expertise. John is an RCIC who has more than 35 years of experience dealing with complex employment and employment-related immigration issues in the public service and in the private sector.
Edward Dennis

Edward Dennis, BSc, MBA, Ph.D. is both an ICCRC Immigration Consultant and a past full Member of CAPIC. During the past five years Ed has served as an elected Director on the ICCRC Board of Directors. He has held positions as Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee (FAC) as well as the Chair of the Outreach and Communications Committee.

In the past, he has worked as a volunteer with the BC Chapter of CAPIC as a National Policy Committee Member in standing and has been on the National Board of Directors as the National Membership Director after being a “Member at Large” for some time. During that timeframe he was awarded two “Director Shepherd Awards” for his contributions. In addition, Edward has also been the President of a Public TSX Company, he has worked with Corporate Governance as well as being on the Board of Directors of two other companies in recent years based in Western Canada.
Richard Dennis

Richard Dennis began his immigration career as a Designated Immigration Officer at the Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo, New York. He spent the next 20 years at the Consulate before launching his own immigration consulting practice. Richard is a graduate of the State University of New York in Buffalo where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

He has been active in the immigration industry with his involvement as a member of the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants (CSIC), from inception until formation of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC) and served on the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants (CAPIC) Policy and Lobby committee from 2004 to 2007. Richard in his fifth year of serving on the ICCRC Board and is presently Chair of the Registration and Education Committee. In previous years he has served in the capacity of Chair of the Registration and Membership Committee and Vice-Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee.

Maria Krajewska

Maria Krajewska

Maria has a Master of Law degree from the University of Warsaw, in Poland, as well as a Diploma in Judicial training from the Warsaw courts. She has worked as an assistant Professor at the faculty of Law. Maria has also obtained a postgraduate diploma from the European Institute des Hautes Études Internationales in Nice, France and the Certificat d’Études supérieures des Communautés européennes. In Canada, Maria obtained a certificate in Dispute Resolution from York University in 2000, and a diploma in Immigration Practice with High Honours from Seneca College in 2004.

Maria has been providing immigration services in Toronto for over 20 years and has been a regulated immigration consultant from the onset of the profession in 2004. She has successfully managed her private practice since then specializing in the appeals and representation before the IRB. Maria has volunteered with ICCRC’s Board from its inception, serving for six years as a Chair of the Complaints Committee and is a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants.
Melanie Wen

Melanie Wen BEng, BComm, holds a bachelor degree in computer engineering and a bachelor degree in commerce with a major in Finance. Melanie has served on many committees since being elected to the ICCRC board in 2015, including the Specialization Task Force, Governance and Nomination Committee (GNC), CEO search committee, etc. She is currently the chair of GNC. Melanie has more than five years’ experience as a Business Analyst who is an aspiring new mother living in Calgary with her two children and her husband. Melanie enjoys reading, writing, travelling and likes to try out different recipes.
Mr. Alex Beraskow

Mr. Alex Beraskow

Public Interest Director
Alex is working as a director for both Not-For-Profit (NFP) as well as corporate boards. Alex has had previous roles as a management consultant with strong expertise in finance and information technology. He completed studies in a broad range of topics: business transformation, strategic planning, security, business cases, re-engineering, facilitation, independent project reviews, and procurement. He started his career with IBM in 1969 and has worked within the IT domain since. He has had executive responsibility for five consulting firms since 1980.

He is a Professional Engineer, having graduated from McGill University. MBA Degrees from McGill University and Ottawa University followed. He has also been a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) for 25 years (Canadian Association of Management Consultants). On a more personal note, in 2013 he completed the Tour d’Afrique (a 12,000 km cycling trip from Cairo to Cape Town over a four month period), the Lands’ End to John O’Groats in 2014 (a 1,500 km trip across the UK), and a 3,000 km trip across New Zealand in 2016.
James Hsieh

James has accepted the appointment as a Public Interest Director with ICCRC since June 2017. He is a CPA-CA (Chartered Professional Accountant) and has retired from teaching accounting and leading the related Co-op Education development at Simon Fraser University in 2008 after 24 years of tenure. He has also worked with Public accounting firms for over ten years mainly in the field of audit and taxation.

Immediately after his retirement from Simon Fraser University, he served six years as an appointed Board member with Vancouver Coastal Health Authority by the Province of British Columbia. During that period, he was an active member of the Finance & Audit Committee, Board member of Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC) and Chair of Finance & Audit Committee of HEABC. He is currently also a member and the Vice-Chair of the Richmond Intercultural Advisory Committee appointed by the Richmond City Council as a representative of citizens since November 2013.

Stephen Ashworth

Stephen Ashworth, B.A.A., M.Ed, President & CEO joined ICCRC in May 2017.  As a recognized leader, Stephen brings a diverse background with extensive organizational, strategic and leadership skills, which he gained working in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors in Canada and globally. In addition to owning and operating several businesses, Stephen is an accomplished author and recognized leader on issues relating to leadership, education and business. 

Stephen was the President and CEO (Acting) of Junior Achievement of Canada, the largest non-profit business education organization in the World dedicated to inspiring and preparing youth to succeed in a global economy and reaching over 10.5 million youth annually in over 120 countries. In 2013, Stephen received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his dedication and commitment to helping prepare youth for their future success.
Lawrence E. Barker

Lawrence Barker, RPR, brings to the Council over thirty years of senior not-for-profit management experience which helps the Council ensure that all aspects of member registration and the corporate secretariat function are managed effectively and professionally. 

As the Council’s Registrar since ICCRC’s inception, Mr. Barker develops and implements policies and oversees all practices relating to membership records and admissions. He also oversees the management of the up-to-date register of all members and RISIAs. 

Mr. Barker’s professional association work includes serving as executive director (chief staff officer) with the Canadian Snowbird Association (CSA), the Grand Valley Construction Association (GVCA), and the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA). He also served as director of member services with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT). 

He is a member of the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) and the Governance Professionals of Canada (formerly the Canadian Society of Corporate Secretaries). He obtained his designation as a Registered Professional Recruiter from the Association of Professional Recruiters of Canada – part of the Institute of Professional Management (APRC-IPM). Prior to his career in the not-for-profit sector, Mr. Barker was employed for a number of years in both private industry as well as with the Ontario government. 

Mr. Barker’s skills and expertise in membership registration management and services are a great asset and help the Council to oversee the professions it regulates.
Rodelio Ramos

Director of Finance & Corporate Treasurer (*Officer)
Rod brings valuable financial and managerial experience to the Council including knowledge of the not-for-profit sector. He is responsible for planning, directing and controlling financial and operational functions for ICCRC. 

Rod is a Certified General Accountant (CGA) and a member in good standing with the CGA of Ontario.
